A Knit-over!
My 11 year old was invited to sleep over at her friends this past weekend. Her friend asked her to bring her knitting, because she wanted to learn. I went and got them each a set of purple needles and some fun yarn (Tutu at Michaels, for $3!!) and sent her to sleepover. When she came home the next day, she had a lovely scarf, her friend had mastered the knit stitch and I was so proud of both of them!
My daughter learned to knit when she was 4, while attending a Montessori Preschool--her first project was a hat. It wasnt until several years later (4, to be exact), when I was bit by the knitting bug. Although my daughter has many other things(homework, dance, school, eating gummi bears . . .) that demand her attention, I love that she knits, and I love that we knit together.
